For those of you who do not know who Debbie Harry is, she is best known as the lead singer of Blondie. She is also one of my style icons. Although a natural brunette, Harry is best known for her platinum blonde locks and high cheekbones. She gained style icon status with her punk rock look, fearless style choices and tough attitude. She worked with fashion designer Stephen Sprouse who designed most of her stage costumes after her success but also wore a lot of things she found at thrift stores. You definitely see designer today draw inspiration from punk rock and Debbie Harry. I think that Hedi Slimane drew a lot of inspiration from Debbie Harry during his short stint at Saint Laurent. I also see Debbie Harry in some of the pieces for Vetaments and Marc Jacobs. Whether you like her look or not…she is definitely an inspiration and style icon that has lasted the test of time. If I could pull off platinum blonde I would totally copy her look!
