Current Obsession: J.W. Anderson

Born in Northern Ireland, Jonathan Anderson launched his fashion label J.W. Anderson for men in 2008 and for women in 2010. Known for his androgynous aesthetic, he is always exploring the line between male and female with his designs. Interestingly, Anderson did not always want to be a designer. He originally pursued a career in acting and realized soon after that he was more interested in the costumes than actually acting. This lead him to study menswear design at the London College of Fashion. He started with a collection of accessories that gained popular praise and soon after started his ready-to-wear line. J.W. Anderson is now regarded to as one of London’s most innovative labels. In 2013 LVMH acquired a majority stake in J.W. Anderson and soon after Anderson was named Creative Director of Loewe where he remains today while also working on his namesake company.
I am loving J.W. Anderson’s clothing right now. I have a thing for tailored clothing and a lot of his pieces have clean lines with an edge or a quirkiness about them. I think the fit is great and the pieces are feminine with masculine edge. He does great work with stripes and tailored shirting. His FW16 collection was filled with a lot of statements pieces and adornments such as zippers, ruffle trims, embroiderey and studs. One item I am in particularly coveting is his Pierce Medium Shoulder Bag. I love the simplicity of the hardware and the bag shape itself is classic and comes in some beautiful colors. It is definitely on my wish list for fall. His ruffle ankle boots make quite a statement if you are daring enough to pull them off. I am not sure if I am but I like the whimsical touch and I am a big fan of ruffles. Below are some of my favorite pieces from pre-fall and fall 16 collections.
